It's been four years since Willy and I took our last real trip (Alaska, to celebrate our 1st anniversary). Weddings and the associated vacation time, costs, etc. were the primary culprit, though life in general made us postpone the trip to Greece we've been wanting to do. So

it was with a lot of anticipation that we set out on our trip a couple of weeks ago.

We were gone for 11 days, May 22 - June 2. It was just enough time to feel like we really got away, which was nice. The itinerary was Athens for two nights, Naxos for three nights, Santorini for four nights. Everyone told us not to waste too much time in Athens, and for the most part I think they were right. The Parthenon was pretty cool to see, and we also did a day trip to

Sounion to see the Temple of Poseidon. Very cool, very old stuff to see. Saw more old stuff in the New Acropolis Museum. They have many of the frescoes that used to run along the top of the Parthenon stored there, though there's also many that are missing because they're being held at the British Museum, which won't give them back. Waaah! If we ever go back, I'd like to see some more of the stuff on the mainland in areas outside of Athens, like this one monastery that's way up on a rock outcrop somewhere and you have to climb a million stairs to get there. Gotta save some things for future trips. We did see the world's tiniest bunnies in a makeshift zoo in the National Garden.

We had our best meal of the trip while in Athens in, of all places, the restaurant in the Hilton Hotel where we were staying. Our guide book said that Milo's was worth a special trip to try, so we decided to check it out. Even luckier, they were running a special deal of five courses for 25 euros--a really good deal once we saw that an entree alone costs upwards of 30 euros. The salmon you see in the pic was a.ma.zing, as was the avocado you see on the right of the plate. We also had this egg thing that had a fried exterior with a liquid yolk...so strangely delicious. Those were our two favorite dishes. Lesson learned, don't underestimate the hotel

restaurant!

You'll have to post more pictures! Glad you had fun! When I went with my mom, we saw some cool monasteries up high, but only visited a couple here and there (prolly not the one you're talking about though). Welcome back!
Again, so jealous! Always wanted to go but I don't think I'll be hitting Greece anytime soon. We'll have to do our obligatory round of amusement parks first. :P Glad to hear you had fun. Vacations are the best!
Wow, sounds like a very nice and relaxing trip! I'm sure Sabrina enjoyed the bunny pic, so cute! Yes more pics please!
Also heard that Willy got a jay-o-bee. Congrats!
